Cheap Things To Do In Vancouver In February

Our monthly Things To Do In Vancouver list is here and full of fun and reasonably priced events happening in our city! Even though it's chilly out feel free to throw on one of our Vancouver, we love you shirts and take some pictures at these events or others you check out this month!

February 5th: The Official Super Bowl XLVI Party At The Commodore Ballroom
We're sure that there will be plenty of Super Bowl parties happening around town but if you like to be official about things we recommend The Official Super Bowl XLVI Party At The Commodore Ballroom. The event includes cheerleaders, Super Bowl coverage on massive viewing screens, and live music performances by one of Canada's fastest rising bands The Sheepdogs. More information available on the NFL Facebook page.

    February 10th & 11th: Illuminate Yaletown
This yearly tradition reinvents the streets of Yaletown into an outdoor light art display for attendees to walk through and explore. Enjoy beautiful lights used in innovative ways, interact with exhibits, and discover the creative usage of illuminations. The event is free to attend.

February 12th: I Woof You! Dog Photo Event
This one's for all the dog owners that really love their pets and want a special Valentine's Day photo of their furry friend. The event welcomes dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes to come to the Breeze Presentation Centre from 12-3pm and have their photos professionally taken in exchange for a donation to the BC SPCA.

February 23rd: Moonlight Snowshoe for Take a Hike Program
Come support an awesome Vancouver organization raising funds for their program with this 'cool' event. A guided moonlit snowshoe trek amongst snow-capped trees and (hopefully) a starry sky. Registration is $20 and each participant also commits to raise a minimum of $150 by collecting pledges from colleagues, friends, and family. All money goes towards funding Adventure-Based Learning for 40 at-risk youth in Vancouver. For more information about Take a Hike, visit their website.

    A Very Vancouver Valentine's Day

Looking for a fantastic date idea for your special someone this Valentine's Day? Are you wanting to ask someone out and are looking for a casual 'non-date but secretly hoping it's a date' location? Need a way to celebrate your singleness with other single friends? Want something fun to do on a limited budget? Not a problem, we here at Vancouver, we love you are looking out for you this holiday season! We've compiled a list of fun date ideas around Vancouver for February 14th no matter what you're looking to get out of the night. Because whether you're in a relationship or single this Valentine's day, Vancouver is always lovable.

The Princess Bride at the Rio Theatre
Catch the classic movie and some great acoustic performances from JUNO Award nominated local band Said the Whale and Jasper Sloan Yip. Show starts at 7 pm.
Tickets are $15 in advance. The best part... if you're single and drastically upset about that fact you can always just grab a seat in the darkened theatre and nobody will see you quietly crying to yourself the whole night.

    The Candy Isle
Ok, so maybe this is a Willy Wonka fan's ideal Valentine's day date but who are we kidding, everybody loves candy. Or at least they should. Whether you're looking for a romantic date, friendly date, or even a solo date why not go visit a candy store? Spend your time looking through the unique assortment of candy options and international imports. It's simple fun and perfect for any budget size. And depending on your age you can even reminisce about the glorious candy you had as a kid... and then feel really old for saying something like that. After your purchase take a stroll around the city and enjoy eating your candy treasure. The walking will help burn off all the sugar you're eating.

    Skating at Robson Square
Possibly one of the best things about hosting the 2010 Olympic Winter Games was the renovation of the Robson Square skating rink. A casual romantic setting and affordable on any budget, skating also provides the classic middle school excuse to hold any potential date's hand, especially if either of you are not an experienced skater. Score one for those lacking athletic ability or balance! Access to the rink is free and skate rentals are just $3. Open until 9pm Sunday-Thursday, and till 11pm Fridays and Saturdays. *Suggested romantic follow up... sitting down with a hot chocolate from the Starbucks across the street to warm up after.

    Sushi At The Eatery
No matter who you are (or aren't) spending Valentine's Day with, The Eatery in Kits is the perfect place to celebrate the occasion over food. Casual enough for friends, 'just friends,' 'secretly want to be more than friends,' or 'clearly not just friends,' The Eatery's eclectic ambiance, candle lit tables and funky Japanese menu is a great fit for anyone. As their website says, "Make it a party, a romantic date or just have a bite to eat. You'll always have a good time at The Eatery."

Whatever you end up doing this Valentine's Day, just have fun. Whether you are madly in love with your soulmate or enjoying life unattached, remember it's only really just another day... so enjoy it.

Leave us a comment and let us know of other great Vancouver events, restaurants, or stores to visit this Valentine's Day. Why not wear one of our shirts to one of these events? We're always looking to see where our shirts end up, so take a picture of yourself wearing it wherever you are and send it us here! We want to feature you on our website!
